Coffee may look like a simple drink (you boil it, add sugar or not and that’s it) but there are many coffee drinks and we will mention some of them here by name and description.
Black Tie
- a mix of traditional Thai Iced Tea (spicy black tea) with a double shot of espresso.
Caffè Americano
- added hot water to espresso.
Café mocha
- one third espresso and two thirds steamed milk with a portion of chocolate.
Cappuccino
- espresso, hot milk, and steamed milk foam.
Cold brew or cold-press
- steeped coffee in room temperature or cold water for a longer period of time.
Espressino
- espresso, steamed milk, and cocoa powder.
Espresso
- a concentrated drink brewed by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans.
Green Eye
- drip brewed dark-roast coffee mixed with a triple shot of espresso.
Greek frappé coffee
- foam-covered iced coffee made from instant coffee.
Iced coffee
- normal hot coffee but cooled.
Irish coffee
- coffee with whiskey and cream with sometimes added sugar.
Palazzo
- two shots of chilled espresso with sweetened cream.
Red Tie
- A variant of Black Tie but with only one espresso.
Rüdesheimer kaffee
- “Asbach Uralt” brandy with coffee, sugar, and whipped cream.
Ipoh "White" Coffee
- coffee beans are roasted with palm-oil margarine, and coffee from those beans is served with condensed milk.
Yuanyang or Ying Yong
- popular in Hong Kong; made of coffee and Hong Kong-style milk tea.
Black Eye
- dripped coffee with a double shot of espresso.
Café au lait
- espresso and milk.
Café de olla
- coffee prepared in earthen clay pots in Mexico. Flavored with cinnamon and piloncillo.
Doppio
- double shot of espresso extracted through a double filter basket.
Caffè Medici
- a doppio with chocolate syrup and orange peel topped with whipped cream.
Café miel
(“miel” - French for “honey”) - shot of espresso, steamed milk, cinnamon, and honey.
Caffè Tobio
- espresso with an equal amount of regular coffee.
Cortado
- espresso mixed with a small amount of warm milk which reduces the acidity and bitternes.
Eiskaffee
- German drink made of chilled coffee, milk, sweetener, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream.
Guillermo
- one or two shots of hot espresso poured over slices of lime. Sometimes served on ice and with some milk.
Indian filter coffee
- sweet milky coffee made from dark roasted coffee beans and chicory.
Liqueur coffee
- coffee brew with a shot of liqueur.
Coffee can also be classified by the type of roast:
American (regular) roast
- Its beans are medium-roasted, which gives a moderate brew, not too light or too heavy in flavor.
French roast and dark French roast
- It has heavily-roasted beans and a deep chocolate brown color which gives a stronger coffee.
Italian roast
- Beans are glossy and brown-black, have strong flavor and are used for espresso.
European roast
- two-thirds heavy-roast beans blended with one-third regular-roast.
Viennese roast
- one-third heavy-roast beans blended with two-thirds regular-roast.
